Business as Unusual (BAU) is a Co-working style environment that involves a shared workplace, often an open off area, where independent activity takes place. Unlike a typical office, co-working members are usually not employed by the same organization.

 

Typically, it is attractive to work-at-home professionals, independent contractors and those who travel frequently, but need a central office location. These professionals are motivated by the synergy that

happens in a comfortable and productive work

environment. BAU offers a solution to the challenge

of isolation that many freelancers experience while working at home, and also helps to escape the

distractions of a home-based business.

 

Between 2006 and 2015, we have seen the available co-working spaces double and even triple nationwide. Although there are many of these type spaces in nearby urban areas, this model represents the first of its kind in Roxboro!

 

We are excited about contributing this option to small business owners, who will benefit from not having to support an entire office space alone. It is also the desire of BAU to provide educational seminars on operational needs of small businesses, while also taking advantage of the services of Roxboro’s

Chamber of Commerce and Business Development and Entrepreneurship Center, both of which are within walking distance.

 

BAU is designed as a membership Co-working space, where various membership levels come with certain amenities. We are staffed and generally open during daytime business hours, although after hour access is granted to certain membership packages. Individuals not needing the full membership services can still be supported through hourly access, copying, fax and Boardroom needs. The way we do business is far from usual.
